When Davidhad his go he was that excited aboutMondaythe crossing he took off through theriver and left his mum (Deb) on theWe woke to another good morning other side. He was asked: did youwith the sun just coming up over the forget something, maybe your mum.trees. After breakfast and packing up All was good and Deb jumped intocamp, we left before 9.00am and I another vehicle.told everyone to head out and all The track then changes into Chromitemeet up at Tamboritha Saddle. At Mine track, with nice steep climbs upTamboritha Saddle we got back into to a lookout, then down into theour groups and headed down Chromite Mine campsite for a quickTamboritha road for 2.5 kms then break. This camp is a very large spotturned left onto B1 track. This track for large groups. We headed off againhas steep ascents and descents and and a long climb out up to the Mtis a really great drive, looking at views Margaret track where we turned left, over the Avon Wilderness. We gotheading along the Mt Margaret trackfor 9kms, we then turned right ontoBurgoyne track. This track is wellknown for its steep, rocky terrain andstraight away you are into it with rocksteps and a very steep rocky descent. You really had to watch what youwere doing, but the views lookingback over Licola were amazing.Arriving at a campsite called Big Hillwe stopped for lunch. As some were getting low on fuel weheaded off again to BurgoyneJunction on the Licola road so thatthey could re-fuel.While waiting forthem Zac, Sarah and Adrian left thetrip to head for home via Melbourne. On the road again, we headed up thenext section of Burgoyne trackcoming to a very steep section withlarge rocks.I went into 1st LowRange with the rear diff lock andcrawled up.Simeon followed me inhis HiLux with his twin locks making iteasy.Next was Andrew who couldntmake it.At this point I made thedecision to turn us all around andhead back to Licola to work out whereto go from here.Checking the map Idecided to head along Glencairn roadtowards Barkly bridge campsite, but itwas full. While driving I could hear asqueaking noise coming from myfront, right wheel, which was gettinglouder.Finding a little open area onthe side of the road, we managed toall find a campsite, and while every-one set up camp I pulled the bearingsout of the Toyota as they had fallenapart.Fortunately Dale had a new setin his Toyota and we changed thebearings over and put it backtogether, followed by a good nightaround the fire.22 MARCH2022 TRACKWATCH'
