Thursday 19th:The plan was tocheck and clear the Moonkan MVOtrack. An hour into the trip and theParks Hilux developed a problemwith some of the warning lights on thedash coming on. Rather than continue,Gary and Dave decided to detourback into town and get it fixed.Wewere provided with the keys to thegates and their trunk radio. This was asafety measure to keep in regularcommunications at nominated timesthroughout the day.We arrived at the northern end ofMoonkan Track gates at 11:00am andopened the gates to access the track, locking the gate behind after weentered. If I had to choose one or twotop tracks to drive on in the SnowyNP, it would be Moonkan and Bowentrack. This took overtwo hours with 3 chainsaws workingflat out to clear the track. As this wasnot a public track, there were lots oflimbs and smaller trees to clear.Thethree of us were determined to havethis track cleared and were incommunication with the Rangers as toour progress. We finally exitedMoonkan Track at its southern end by9:30pm.Being late in the evening, covered in sawdust and dirt, Robert,Nick and I decided to live it up andchecked in to a motel in Newmerella. forests towards the Deddick TrackBy Tony Jambu (Pajero 4WD Club) junction.Early on we encountered a log thatSaturday: We joined team uphill, had been cut but needed a little moreAlberto, Andrew, Dali and his nephew removing for easy access.Alberto isTony (the younger), heading west a chainsaw trainer for 4WD Victoriatowards Deddick track.
